Scribe Tool Capture Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
This policy explains how the Scribe Tool Capture browser extension collects, uses, and stores data when used with HC Scribe.
What We Collect
- Page metadata such as URL and page title for each captured step.
- Click metadata, including element selector, text label, and click position.
- Screenshots captured during a recording session.
- Session metadata needed to organize captured steps in your workspace.
How We Use Data
Data is used only to create and manage documentation steps inside your Scribe Tool workspace, including building step timelines, rendering screenshots, and linking sessions to editable documents.
How Data Is Sent and Stored
- Captured data is sent to the base URL configured by the user in the extension.
- Requests are authenticated with a bearer token supplied by the user.
- Extension settings and temporary session state are stored in Chrome extension storage.
- Server-side retention is controlled by your HC Scribe deployment and team settings.
Data Sharing
We do not sell captured data. Data is shared only with your configured HC Scribe backend and users who already have access through your workspace permissions.
Security
We use authenticated API requests and rely on your application environment for transport security, access control, and storage protection.
